Fans, Raving Fans and Everyone Else: Whose Supporting You?

16205938_sThere are roughly 7 billion people on the planet. How well are you connected with them? How many of them know who you are? How many are aware of the services or products you have to offer. This is important because your audience often goes hand in hand with your net worth. Serving more people means greater potential for accumulating wealth. I rank my following in three different categories. The groups are fans, raving fans and everyone else.

Fans are those who support you. For Instance: If you make a Facebook post, they will probably like it. If you have an event, they will probably show up to it. This group is attentive, yet passive. This may be like the fair-weather sports fan who watch the game if there’s nothing better to do, but if they miss it, it’s no big deal.

Raving Fans are the best type of fan. They not only support what you do, they also promote it. They’ll not only like your Facebook status, they’ll share it. They won’t just show up to your event, they’ll tell others to come as well. These are the people who have your back and you’d better make sure that you have there’s also. They will rant and rave about you or what you have to offer. Do whatever you can to keep them happy.

Everyone else are the potential fans or raving fans. They may or may not have heard of you or what you do. If they’ve heard of you, chances are you didn’t make a strong enough impression to turn them into an avid follower or they just have no need for your service and that’s ok. For all of those who haven’t heard of you, you have your work cut out. You may be thinking that you’re not a very sociable person, but you’d better fix that in a hurry or have a huge advertising budget.

Not everyone will need what you have to offer, but they may know others who do. Either way, your fan base will be a huge proponent to your success. At the end of the day, it’s not so much what you know or who you know. It’s about how many know you and support what you do.

Attend as many networking events as you possibly can. Learn about blogging and social media. Meet with industry leaders. Get to know your desired audience and what they care about. Make sure that you take every reasonable step to grow your fan base. Because as your fan base grows, so will your potential wealth.
